Research Summary
I develop converter-centric architectures and optimization frameworks that make hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) reliable, grid-compliant, and cost-effective. At the device level, my work models and controls high-performance power-electronics converters—using state-space/small-signal tools and current/voltage-mode control to maintain fast transient response under non-idealities. At the system level, I integrate solar PV, wind, and battery storage with strategies that meet stability and power-quality targets while respecting life-cycle costs and operating constraints.
A recent direction applies gradient-descent optimization to tune HRES sizing and operating points for stability-first design—achieving ≈99% voltage and ≈97% frequency stability while balancing PV/wind/battery utilization. Complementary studies with hybrid AI/heuristic methods demonstrate life-cycle cost reductions under resource/load uncertainty. Current interests include BMS-aware converter control, multi-objective co-design of front-end PFC with distribution-level compensation, and lab-to-field validation through reproducible teaching rigs.
